First of all, Happy 33rd Birthday to my wonderful hubby! Syd and I are so lucky to have you.
So, for the past 2 years, we've lived without bedside lamps in our bedroom. I don't know why, other than I finally got tired of the too-short lamps we had before, so I put them somewhere else and never found any that I liked enough to replace them.
See: Too short lamps with Target drum shades that I tried out as a band-aid. Needless to say, they were still too short so the shades got returned.
Before Sydney came into our lives, I knew that we HAD to have at least one lamp in our room for those late night feedings, so I amped up the search. It took a few months, but finally, I found the perfect lamp at Lowe's Hardware of all places.
I don't know why I never thought to look there, but they have such a good selection! The blue glass base is perfection, especially with our pillows, and the height is just right!
We only got one for the time being because Steven keeps too much
junk stuff on his side of the bed and he wasn't sure if he wanted such a big lamp added to it. I'm okay with the asymmetry for now, but I would like to go back and get another one sometime.
The texture on the shade adds the perfect amount of interest. Love!
Okay, now let's turn our attention to the wall opposite the bed. We got this big armoire with our bedroom suite 7 years ago. I always thought it was too big, but it hid the TV and provided much needed drawer space for all my pajamas (seriously, my pajamas filled two HUGE drawers at the bottom - behind the double doors), so I dealt with it.
Can you spot my pregnant belly in the TV above? Yeah, I'm so happy she's out in the world now!
Here was the view as you walked into our room. It just felt huge and clunky to me, and I hated that you could see the TV sticking out the back, plus all those cords... yuck.
So, we happened upon a store closing sale at our local Broyhill Outlet, and found the PERFECT media dresser!
We relocated the TV from my craft room for now, until we feel the need/urge to get a bigger flat screen (or find a good sale!).
Now the view from the doorway is MUCH better. No more clunky armoire! The room seriously feels so much larger.
I don't have as much drawer space (sad) so I had to purge a little bit. And by that I mean put what didn't fit in here back in the drawers of the armoire, which is now in the basement work out room. I couldn't quite bear to get rid of it and break up the set. Plus we might have a need for it in our next house! Who knows...
Oh, and just for kicks, here's a close-up of my bridal portrait that is on the top of the dresser. I just love this photo. It doesn't seem like it was taken 6.5 years ago!
Have a great weekend!
