I really wanted to switch up my mantel for summer so when I came across some canvas bunting on clearance at Hobby Lobby, I snatched it up and got to work!
Supplies to make a "Summer" banner:
Canvas bunting (or you could make your own)
Heat n' Bond
Print out with your letters to use as a template
Iron (not pictured, obvs)
First, start off by cutting out your letters and tracing them onto the paper side of the Heat n' Bond. Make sure to trace them in reverse.
Iron the Heat n' Bond onto the wrong side of the fabric, then cut out the letters.
Peel the paper off the Heat n' Bond and iron the letters onto the bunting. EASY!
At this point, I decided that the busy-ness of the fabric made the letters hard to read, so I traced them with a gold paint pen so they would pop more. If you use a solid fabric, I'm sure this won't be an issue!
I strung the banner onto some brown raffia and hung it from the mantel with some tissue paper tassel garland. I really wish I could've found my jute twine but somehow, it's gone missing!
I left the wooden planter filled with faux hydrangeas because there's no reason to mess with perfection, but I pulled out some brass accents and lanterns to fill each side.
To mimic the tissue paper garland, I put this metal tassel (picked up on clearance at Tar-jay for $3.50) in one of the lanterns. I think it's kinda cute and different. Plus I don't have any candles that are the right size to fit in there.
Yeah, I love it. It'll probably stick around until time to put the fall decor out in September.
Wait, how is September only 3 months away?!
