As some of you know, I've been a nanny for the past 3 years. It started when we moved to Ohio and I needed a job for the year that we were going to be there. I didn't want to get a career-type job knowing that we weren't going to be there permanently, so nannying kind of fell into my lap. And I loved it! When we moved back to NC, I wasn't ready to give up nannying yet because I really enjoyed it. Plus the economy wasn't all that great and there weren't that many jobs to be had. So I got another nanny gig, which lasted for 6 months. After that one ended, I decided that I would work for one more family before calling it quits. I found a job super quickly (I think I was only out of work for a week!) and I've been with them for the past almost 2 years.
Until last Friday, which was my last day.
Deciding to leave them was super hard because I've grown so attached to those kids, but another job fell into my lap and I couldn't turn it down. It's in my field! What I actually went to school for! What I always wanted to do! With an exciting company! I start my new job as a Junior Designer for an accessories company today. I'll be designing all sorts of things, but mostly packaging to begin with. I have a company laptop. I'll get to travel. I feel like such a grown-up.
That doesn't mean that the transition won't be hard. I haven't worked in Corporate America in 3.5 years! I'm used to make-up being an optional, if-I-have-time thing. Although I do get to sleep later because I don't have to be there until 8, unlike the 7:15 I've been doing for the past 2 years.
I don't know what my new schedule will mean for my blogging career. I hope it won't affect it, but I just don't know. So, please bare with me as I make the transition back into a professional environment, where I can't spend naptimes blogging.
I'm off to Great Places! I'm off and away!
