Happy Cyber Monday friends! Have you scored any great deals today? I'm trying to refrain from buying for myself, but it's oh so hard. So far, I've resisted, but it would be a lot easier if stores would stop e-mailing me about their awesome, TODAY ONLY 50% off sales. Geez.
I have 75% of my Christmas shopping done... only 8 more things to buy! I know what I'm getting, it's just a matter of actually going out and getting them, so I'm well on my way to being 100% DONE. Woo to the hoo. How many people do you have to buy for? For some reason, it seems more people are added to my list every year, so that this year I'm at an even 30. That's 30 people to buy meaningful gifts for. 30!! These people aren't just acquaintances, but close family and friends. It's honestly a huge undertaking each year, so I'm glad I started when I did, way back in July. Our approach to gift-giving is that it's not how much you paid for the item, but how much it's worth. Outlet stores and Groopdealz are my friends. If I can get an item for $10 but it's worth $30, then I consider that a $30 gift. Just because you got a good deal on something doesn't mean it has less value. I spent $10 or less on 40% of the gifts I bought, but do you think the recipients will know that? Heck no. What's your approach to gift-giving?
In general, I have a very chill approach to Christmas this year. We went to get our tree Friday night, as always. Then on Saturday, we (ahem, Steven) decided we needed a new artificial tree for the basement, so we went to Walmart and picked one up. It was the only one that wasn't pre-lit and is actually really beautiful (pictures to come later this week!). I haven't been all ants-in-my-pants to get the decorating done like I usually am. In fact, all 3 of our trees are decorated, but the real one in the living room is still missing a tree skirt and tree topper. There are pine needles all over the floor upstairs and random decor items are still hanging out willy nilly. I still have pumpkins and mums on my front porch, people! But I'm enjoying the process. Oh, and I haven't wrapped a single gift, but I figure I need a tree skirt first, right?!
There's also the
not so small matter of Christmas cards. They're usually halfway done by now, but I haven't even started. I have the supplies, but we don't have a picture. Ack! I had big plans to take a beautiful Christmas card photo but for one reason or another it just hasn't happened, so I'm either going to scrounge around for one to use or my cards will be a little delayed this year. But honestly, I'm not even that worried about it. They'll get done eventually.
Do you have a laid-back Christmas attitude like me or are you a Nervous Nellie? Speaking of Nellies... my good friend Nellie is moving 3 hours away! She'll be back to visit often because her family lives here so hopefully we'll still get to see her frequently, but it's weird. Why are we all getting so old and having such grown-up lives? I don't like it one bit. Can I go back to the 6th grade, please? Or even 10th. Heck, college will do!
Feel free to share your Cyber Monday brain dump in the comments! :)
