This year I didn't put a whole lot of thought into my fall mantel. Basically, I just tried to use what I had. In fact, I didn't buy a single thing - yippee!
It looks very similar to last year's, which I loved, but I think I like this year's simplicity even better. Here's a look at my 2011 fall mantel...
Oh and before we go any further, I think it's worth noting the absence of the TV cords in the second photo. I think that makes all the difference, don't you?!
I used those glittery leaves (from HobLob) again, but this time I strung them onto some brown raffia. I also reused that crazy orange grass, which got even crazier (not to mention dusty - yuck) in storage. The green candlesticks also returned (from TJMaxx). The white candleholder (IKEA) and gold candle (HobLob) and the silver pinecones (tag sale) are new, but not purchased specifically for the mantel, so that doesn't count, right? The faux apples came from Walmart last year and have been displayed in a wicker bowl since, but when shopping my house for this mantel, I thought it was time to give them a new purpose, and I love the way they look all lined up in a neat row.
Linking up to Kate's Fall Mantels party!
