A Desk Makeover and Introducing SW Norwood Antiques

Happy Monday Ladies!  Steven and I, along with a friend, embarked on a brand new business venture over the weekend.  I'll tell you more about it in a few, but first, I wanted to share this cutie patootie solid wood desk that I made over last week.  I found it on Craigslist, and yes, it needed some work, but isn't it adorable?

I filled all the nicks with wood filler, roughed it up with a mouse sander and painted it with two coats of Valspar Paint + Primer in Autumn Fog.  Yes, it only took 2 coats.  This is my favorite new paint!

I kept the original hardware in their original condition.  I love the contrast of the wood pulls with the painted desk.

I lightly distressed it, just to bring out the character, and I pretty much fell in love with it.

Now, for more on that business venture I mentioned.  We opened up an antiques booth at a new antiques mall nearby.

We're calling it SW Norwood Antiques.  (Click the link to like our Facebook page!)

As you can see, the Autumn Fog desk is now priced and waiting on its new owner to discover it. "Please take me home!"

I'm sure the inventory will evolve and grow, but right now, we're specializing in vintage sports equipment, Coca-Cola, ASU, and beer collectibles, and antiques such as typewriters, cameras, fans, and other miscellaneous antiques.

If you're local to the Hickory, NC area, please come by Old Paths Antiques and Consignment (321 N beside the old Bonita Furniture building) and check out our booth.  It's been so fun to go "picking" and choose the items we wanted to sell.  Oh, and the organizer in me has been in hog heaven!  We don't think we're going to get mega-rich off of this endeavor, but it's a fun hobby and we hope we can make enough money to continue doing it.

Linking to these parties.

The desk is beautiful. I love your booth. I may try to make it out there sometime. I'm loving the fans and rackets you have.

I adore antique collectibles! Me as well, have a little business here in Manila. Antiques add some kind of peaceful ambiance, a sense of value, quality, history, and beauty. Good luck to your picked business, but I'm sure this will turn out to be a great idea.
