Hey y'all and welcome to the first-ever, brand-spankin'-new, inaugural edition of Moody Mondays! Basically, every Monday (or, let's get real here, every Monday I remember) will be a time for me to share a new Mood Board with you, my fabulous readers. I'm no interior designer by any stretch of the imagination, but I like playing around to see what I, as a novice, can come up with. It's sort of like online window shopping, and who doesn't love that?
I've had a slight obsession with anchors lately. I've seen them pop up all sorts of places, but what really started my love affair was this pin:
A giant cross-stitched anchor - what's not to love?
So, when I started playing around on Olioboard, I came across some anchor pillows and bam! Inspiration for my first mood board.
The sofa and upholstered chair both act as neutrals to ground the space. Throw in some graphic blue and cream curtains, a couple of red accents in the throw pillows and chairs, some natural elements in the rug and trunk-turned-coffee-table, and a couple of green accents, and I think you have a very pulled together, comfortable space.
Even when I'm just daydreaming, I can't help but be practical. If these items were in my home and I got tired of them after a year or two, I could just replace the pillows and maybe the artwork, and I could have a whole new look with minimal expense. That's the way I think about design. Sure, it'd be nice to splurge on the orange tufted sofa that's so right now or the giant chevron rug, but what happens when you tire of it sooner rather than later? I like to choose classic pieces that allow my style to evolve around them.
So be honest, do you like my take on nautical or is it too in-yo-face?
