Operation Craft Room: Woven Ribbon Canvas

Happy Monday lovelies!  Hope your weekend was fan-freakin'-tastic!

My gallery wall project for this week was pretty darn easy.

See?

If you've got the skills of a second grader, you can totally do this.

First, gather up a bunch of ribbon.

Measure length needed and cut strips of ribbon accordingly.  Then, one ribbon at a time, wrap them onto your canvas and put a dab of hot glue on the back.  It doesn't matter which direction you start with, but I like going the length of the canvas first.

Space them however far apart your little heart desires.  Some I put closer together, some further apart...

...until I had the whole thing covered in one direction.

Then start working in the other direction, weaving your ribbons over and under, spacing them a little further apart because you're getting tired of this project... okay, maybe that's just me.  What can I say?  I have a short attention span.

And voila!

I pretty much love it.  The best part?  It only took one episode of The View!

Ignore that red frame in the bottom right corner... major project fail.

It's coming along, slowly but surely.  At this rate (one canvas per week), it will take me a few months to get this wall done.  That's okay, though, I kind of like taking my time.  If you notice, I've moved some things around, mostly because of that red project fail (I'll get around to fixing it sometime... it has potential but that red spray paint is all wrong).  I'm finding that the beauty of using canvases instead of say, framed photos, is that there's no right or wrong way to hang them.  They work vertically and horizontally.  Don't worry, though, I will be adding some more personal items up here, I just haven't decided which photos I want or how I want to display them.  Oh, and I can't wait to spray paint that gold eyesore of a mirror... any suggestions on colors?

I love the new addition to the gallery wall. Check out www.knotallthatiseam.com/2012/03/turquoise-framed-photo-canvas.html for inspiration for the red frame. I think turquoise might be a great color for the wall.
