31 Days of Anti-Laziness: Some thoughts and a very exciting announcement

I thought I'd take a little hiatus from anti-lazy projects today and give you some behind-the-scenes of what goes on in this lazy head of mine.

Now, I wouldn't really consider myself a lazy person in the general sense of the word.  In fact, I'm really far from what I would consider full-on laziness.  The dishes are always washed right after dinner.  Towels are hung on their hooks.  Beds are made (even if it's not until I get home from work at 5).  Toilets are (for the most part) clean.  Where my laziness sets in is the trivial tasks.  The stuff I would like to do but there's simply always something more pressing (The new episode of Revenge, anyone?  Seriously, have you seen that show?  Loving it so far!  Emily VanCamp is awesome - loved her in Everwood, loved her in Brothers & Sisters, now loving her in Revenge.  Anywho...).  What really stops me, though, is this inner dialogue I have...

There's no way I'll be able to do it right so why even bother?

No one ever taught me to sew, so there's no way I can learn.

I don't have xyz tool/material I need, so the end result won't be perfect and therefore there's no use in doing it.

Basically all of the above hinges on the fact that I'm a little bit of a perfectionist.  My life centers around the mantra if you can't do it right, don't do it at all.  And that's me... I think I can't do it right a lot of times.  But those times that I actually try, I find that what I did is perfectly fine.  Good, even.  Sometimes, better than good.  Which brings me to...

That's right.  I entered my Pumpkin Owl into One Month to Win It and they chose me.  ME!  Can you believe it?  I hardly can.  And all because of this crazy awesome anti-laziness month.  Just because I was trying to use what I had.  Just because I let my mind roam free, unworried about perfection.  Just because I did instead of didn't bother.

So will you please go visit OMTWI and leave some love for all of this season's contestants?  I can't WAIT to get started on my first project.  Round 1 will be posted and open for voting on October 30th, so please check in every week and VOTE VOTE VOTE!

Lots of love,
Jenna
