31 Days of Anti-Laziness: Intro and Melted Crayon Art

Nester is having her annual 31 Days of Change series and I have stupidly decided to join in.  I have declared October the 31 Days of Anti-Laziness.  Bloggers all across the land are writing on all sorts of different topics, but I decided to go a tad bit off course from what Nester's intention probably was and make this a real challenge for myself.  Instead of spending my free time in front of the boob tube, I'm going to get off my hiney and do those things that I've been meaning to do.  Looky, I even made a button:

There will be some craftiness (including Pinterest inspiration), some cleaning/organizing, and some challenges for myself (Use coupons!  Make a meal that takes longer than 15 minutes!)  So yeah, wish me luck, and stay tuned to see what I get into during October.

Now, onto my first task.  About a month ago, I pinned this awesome idea (which subsequently got the most number of repins of anything else I've ever pinned!):

Isn't it awesome?!  You can find the full tutorial here so I won't bother you with the details, but here's my version:

Sorry for the poor lighting... I had to choose between natural light and a pretty backdrop, and my cork board won.

The whole thing from start to finish took about half an hour (yay for quick projects!) and cost about $5.  By the way, did you know that a box of Crayola crayons at Michaels costs $4, whereas the same exact box at Walmart costs $1.50?!  Yeah, don't shop at Michaels for crayons.  I saw the price tag and had sticker shock, for real.

AnyWHO, can you just imagine the possibilities with melted crayons?!  I'm dreaming up all sorts of projects with my handy dandy heat gun and a box of Crayolas.

If you're joining me from Nester's party, I'm sending you a big HOWDY.  I'm so looking forward to reading everyone's "31 Days"!  You can catch up on all my posts here.

I love your topic and your crayon project. I definitely need some anti-laziness. I find it really easy to spend lots of time pinning projects, but rarely actually get around to doing them!

I'm dropping by as The CSI Project guest judge this week. Great job! I never would have thought of this before Pinterest, but you are right the possibilities are endless!
