Hey y'all! For the longest time (and I mean longest, as in four years), I've wanted to decorate the top of our kitchen cabinets, but I just didn't know what I wanted to put up there and didn't really want to go out and buy a bunch of stuff specifically for that purpose. But when Steven and I went to the International Antiques and Collectibles show at the Metrolina Expo in Charlotte last weekend, I walked in with the express purpose of finding some cheap decor items for our cabs.
Here's the before:
Blank slate, I tell ya.
And the after!
Much better! Although I think I need a few more things for either end. But I'm totally happy for now until I find just the right thing!
And because I know you're all just dying to know what's new and how much I paid, here ya go:
$32.50 for some awesome vintage items? Not too shabby.
I bought a blue lantern that I wanted to put up here but it was too tall. It was heartbroken that it couldn't join its colorful friends, but it found its home on the mantle, where I think it looks even better than if I had put it up here! I also got an old cast iron iron that weighs approximately 2 tons (Seriously, how did ladies in the olden days iron with those things?! They must have had some serious muscles.) It was too small for up here and kind of got lost, so I moved it to another vignette where it can get the appreciation it deserves.
So what do you think? Any ideas for other things I could put up here?
For now, I just lovey love it.
BTdubs... did you notice the towel hanging on my oven door? Ack, I just love that thing. I got it at Sur la Table with the intention of framing it (because it's just so b-e-a-utiful!), but haven't decided where I want to put it yet, so for now, I love the extra color it's adding to my kitchen. I'm trying really hard not to get grease on it.
